About Us

Blair Kitchen, Owner and Director, studied Child Development at SBCC and is a certified Montessori teacher from the Montessori School of Ojai where she taught for over 10 years. She also studied the Reggio Emilia philosophy and taught for 4 years and has integrated both Reggio and Montessori into her teaching methods. She is certified in Montessori, Reggio, Music and Movement, and Brain Gym. Blair was a head teacher at 3 local preschools prior to starting her own school.

In 2011 Blair set out to fulfill her dream and opened Bluebird Preschool. Her philosophy is exhibited throughout the school, blending both indoor and outdoor enrichment. Blair believes that in order for a child to experience a rich and fulfilling education, importance lies within the environment to provide students a place to move freely and to make choices that support their mental and physical interests.
